Natural Korowai Kākahu

This natural korowai is a celebration of te ao tūroa, the enduring natural world. Made with deep respect for the environment and ancestral traditions.

Crafted using undyed natural fibres, its body reflects the raw, earthy tones of harakeke and muka, symbolising the connection to Papatūānuku and the whenua.

The tāniko band features a traditional pātiki (flounder) pattern in soft beige and white. The pātiki design represents abundance, hospitality, and the sharing of resources, values held close in te ao Māori. A single, deliberate row of white threads weaves through the tāniko, embodying mauri tau, harmony and balance, invoking clarity of mind and the unity of all things.

This korowai stands as a living cloak of connection: to the land, to the ancestors, and to the ever-flowing rhythm of nature.
