He Korowai Kārearea

This korowai represents the kārearea — our native falcon. Fast, fierce, and focused, it flies high over the whenua with strength and purpose. Made using shades of brown and grey, it reflects the colours of the kārearea’s feathers and the rugged land it calls home.
The cloak carries the wairua of the bird — sharp-minded, determined, and fearless. It’s a kākahu for someone who stands strong, sees clearly, and leads with heart.
Every feather speaks of protection, courage, and connection to te taiao. Just like the kārearea, this korowai holds mana — a symbol of resilience, rangatiratanga, and pride in who we are.
